A Liverpool Beatles Fan's Autographed Scrapbook (UK, 1962-63). This item is more than an incredible set of Beatles autographs from 1962 - it is a true time capsule which documents the group's early successes as experienced by their hometown fans in Liverpool. A young female fan named Sally lovingly put together this collection of clippings from newspapers and magazines, which burst off of the pages with the exuberance that was the Beatles. Stories of their concert dates, television and radio appearances, recording sessions, chart positions, their personal likes and dislikes, and even about their devoted fans themselves give great insight into a particular time and place: Liverpool and the north of England, circa mid-1962 to mid-1963, when "four of our own" were making their way into the big time. In addition to the clippings, the scrapbook includes a fantastic set of Beatle autographs, likely signed on the evening of Sunday, December 16, 1962, after their final appearance of the year at the Cavern Club. With his signature, Ringo provided Sally with the address (partial) of the Star-Club in Hamburg - where the Beatles would be spending the last weeks of 1962 - should she wish to send any correspondence. John, Paul, and George have signed over an entire right-hand page of the book in black ink: "To Sally/lots of love/Paul McCartney/xxx", "love to Sally/John Lennon/xxx", "To Sally/love from/George Harrison/xxx"; Ringo's signature is in red ink on the left-hand side, presumably around a clipping which was already in place "To Sally/Love/Ringo Starr/xxx/STAR CLUB/ST PAULI/HAMBURG". (The club's street address - Grosse Freiheit 39 - has been added below in another hand). The scrapbook measures 6.5" x 8" when closed, and holds 28 sheets of square-lined notepaper, covered on both sides with various clippings about the Beatles. The pages are well worn and yellowed consistent with age, and a number of pages toward the back have come loose from the binding. Some clippings are evidently missing, and there is yellowed tape affixed throughout. However, the pages with the signatures are near the front and still intact and attached, and are in remarkably good shape, overall Very Good, with the whole of the notebook overall Good. This unique item stands on merits which transcend it's well-loved condition! Includes a handwritten note from Sally detailing when the Beatles signed the scrapbook for her. From the Uwe Blaschke Beatles Collection. COA from Heritage Auctions. The Beatles' December 1962 appearances at the Star-Club would be their last in Germany until 1966.
